Makonde Carved "Ujamaa" Nine Figures

An intricately hand carved sculpture from a single piece of African blackwoodlocally known as "Mpingo" in the style of "Ujamaa".

This carving depicts nine villagers all with their traditional beer calabashes in a natural finish showing the true grain of the wood.

This piece was carved in Tanzania and purchased at one of the largest Makonde markets, the Mwenge Market in Dar es Salaam.
