Shona Brown Serpentine "Defiant African Woman" Sculpture

This unique sculpture is hand carved from a single piece ofgreen serpentine stone by a master Shona artist.

This sculpture entitled "Village Elder" captures the many years of his hard life with the the deep furrows of his brow and laugh lines.

The highly polished stone is beautifully colored in shades of green with black, white and brown mottling. The smoothness of his face contrasts well with the roughness of his hair and small beard, adding depth and texture to this sculpture.
