Shona Green Opal "Leafhead" Sculpture

This lovely sculpture is hand carved and polished from a single piece of green opal stone by a master Shona artist.

The opal stone is beautifully patterened in green mottled with black with cream veins.

The Shona believe that their ancestors live in the trees, hence the "leafhead" depiction.

This piece is from Zimbabwe.
